The one KEY thing none of the websites (or instruction manuals) say, is the distance that you hold your remote from your mirror inside the car, when trying to program the car, makes ALL the difference. I struggled for hours before realizing that you should move the remote closer or furhter away from the mirror, until it is at the optimal distance to "learn". This is a trial-by-error operation. For my car (a 2009 BMW X5) I had to put the remote right up against the mirror before it worked.
