'03 X5 Main Body Control Unit installation? (149 views) (232 thread views) 
Message: Hi Guys,

I am a competent wrench. I just bought this X5 for my wife. Yes, she loves it. Not my tii but I like it too. The doors won't lock/ unlock with the remote. I had the dealer tell me it has a bad Main Body Control unit. I have a new (used) one.

Can you save me some time and tell me it's location in the car and do I really have to have it coded? If I replace it will the car have to be towed to the dealer before it will start, etc?
