I think things are a good deal more flexible than you suggest based on my experience, I haven't pulled the trigger yet though. I doubt that $500 over invoice is attainable on the diesel but a $3k discount ($1500 over invoice) on a base version seems to be possible with lots of back and forth drama involved. Of course I have a trade as well which muddies the water - they will give me KBB trade value for it but may see more profit there as it is a nice truck.
