| Message: | Had a 2000 528it that I loved and a 18 year old kid pushed me into a telephone pole (both the front and back destroyed). Then I went into a 2003 X5 4.4. Nice SAV but could watch the gas meter move when I drove. Cost me $100 a week (16 mpg) and wasn't really going anywhere. But the car handled excellently, no feeling of top heavy in a 3 ton car. And boy, was it fast. So I traded it in for a 2005 X3 3.0 with 6k miles, cpo for 7 years or 100k. Obviously the car is not as fast as the X5 but it is okay. The interior design of the X3 is a bit skimpy in comparison to the X5. Gas mileage is 19 around town and 21 on the highway. I guess I like it but do not love it in comparison to the X5. Saw on a website that the X5 cost $4 to travel 25 miles (all costs) and the X3 cost around $3. Good luck with your decision. Never drove a 3 series but always liked their looks. BMW has a great cpo site. Kurt | ||||
