| Message: | Have you been to a High Performance driving school? I have been instructing at BMW schools (hoosier chapter) for about 10 years now and have yet to encounter a single novice student that knew how to drive "correctly". That is, in a way that is smooth, uses appropriate inputs on the controls, and drives the best line. The "correct" way not only allows for much greater speed but also provides the greatest margin of safety. It is especially important to drive "correctly" in the M5, which has a very powerful race car drivetrain....very very responsive AND very very unforgiving of incorrect inputs. The reason the M3 SMG is easier to drive is because it has ALOT less power. I expect you believe you know how to drive....after all you have probably been doing it for some time now. How do you know? Have you ever tested yourself? Have you ever done an autocross or driving school? The M5 is not like other cars...as undoubtedly you quite enjoy at times....Wrong inputs equals jerkyness The M5 can be driven smoothly, if you/your wife are having difficulty with it then, at least consider getting some instruction at a high performance driving event. Not only will you enjoy the experience, you will also be much better/safer drivers. good luck and I hope to see you at the track someday! guido | ||||
