| Message: | Sounds like the guy that changed the rules at Mid-Ohio. I was just out at there, and the instructors no longer are allowed to ride with the students. The reason, to quote one of the instructors, is "some idiot in a Viper decided he didn't need to brake at the end of the straightaway into turn one, and flipped his car with the instructor in it - broke his neck". Great. Even with the newer 500 HP 2004 viper, both cars had identical times (8:13) around the Nurburgring. Again, I'll take my car over the Viper anyday on a track. You might keep up for a few laps, but driving that car at 9/10ths, eventually you'll find yourself off the track. They've got way too much torque and handle like trucks. Here are the Trackchallenge results: Dodge BMW M5 Testing Date 10/2004 12/2004 Engine 8285 cccm, 10 Zyl , 20 V 4999 cccm, 10 Zyl , 40 V Power 506 PS (372 KW) @ 5600/min 507 PS (373 KW) @ 775/min Torque 711 Nm @ 4200/min 520 Nm @ 6100/min Transmission 0 (6) 2 (7) Weight 1585 Kg 1844 Kg Weight / BhP 3,1 Kg / PS 3,6 Kg/ PS 0 - 100 Km/h 4,5 s 4,5 s 0 - 200 Km/h 14 s 13,8 s 0 - 200-0 Km/h 19,2 s 19,2 s Top Speed 306 Km/h 269 Km/h * el. begrenzt 80 - 120 Km/h 4.Gear 4,5 s 4,5 s 100 - 0 Km/h hot 34,3 m , 11,3 m/s 36,1 m , 10,7 m/s Transverse Acceleration 1,25 g 1,2 g Slalom Course 36 / 110m 127 / 146 Km/h 128 / 136 Km/h Round Time Nuerburgring 8.13 min 8.13 min Round Time Hockenheim 1.14,9 min 1.16,5 min | ||||
