4 years of great virtually trouble free driving came to sudden end last Sunday. Shut it off, had been running perfect, hour later wouldn't start
Crank a few times and knew it wouldn't as it always fired quickly. First checked spark... plenty. Sprayed some starting fluid in airhorn while cranking and started but only keep running while spraying. The fuse cover doesn't identify which fuse is for fuel pump and can't see any bad ones. I have a Haynes manual on E-30 to 91 but they don't cover the DOHC motors. Is the fuel pump relay in same place as the 89 325?? Could anyone explain how to "jumper" the fuel pump and then identify if the relay might be bad that way? We also have a perfect running 89 325ix that I could switch relays with and a 88 325 parts car that wasn't running when I got it. Would those relays be the same? Might the Fuel pumps be the same? Is failure usually in the tank pump or the transfer pump? I'd love to talk to someone on the phone!! Dealer is not an option for work or advice!! My home phone is 618/239-9098 be glad to return any call.... who knows maybe someday I can help you or someone as I do have lots of BMW parts and car parts in general. Used to own a salvage yard but as you can tell I am not techie and the one fellow I always called on to fix stuff is in failing health and not available. this is wife's summer car and I NEED to keep her happy so she'll continue to go to work!!
Someone please take pity on me! I'm here in midwest by StLouis and I only know Ford and John Deere mechanics!
