CFM rating of air comp Pressure Volume of tank The cfm and pressure relate directly to tool consumption from the chart. The tank volume is a buffer that allows you to buy a smaller rated cfm and/or pressure and still keep the tool operating. EX: From the chart, an orbital body sander needs 10 cfm @ 70-100 psig. That would be a monster compressor. You can probably get by with a 6-7 cfm if you have good storage volume. Some go to heaven for the climate, others go to hell for the company! See you there! | ||||
