Message: hello guys and gals - i am the proud owner of a 91 bmw 850i. just purchased in september 09. my real passion is street rods but i also love exotic cars. have owned several lotus europas and mercedes 280sl's. bought the 850 because i got it relatively cheap and was looking for an interesting project. previous owner was a slob and knew nothing about cars. took a full week to clean it to make it presentable. had a ton of electrical problems whic i solved by replacing both batteries. previous owner didn't even know that it had two. i now have a great runnin, although high mileage (162,000 miles) supercar with a couple of nagging problems that i could use some help on. first is the OBC/MID. all pixels work, which i guess is a small miracle, but i can not program any info into the computer. all of the buttons appear to work but i can not program the time and date into it. i push time, the computer flashes , i enter the time, press set, set date appears, set the date, press set and select year appears. enter year, press set nothing happens. press time and get four dashes. same happens with all other functions such as limit. press limit enter 100, press set, nothing happens. have reviewed this forum back to 2003 and could not find a similar problem. anyone ever heard of this problem before? second problem is in the heater. fan runs all of the time. even with all of the switches in the off position. have replaced the limit switch under the dash with no result. fan still runs. is there another resistor or something that i should be looking for? looking forward to chatting with you guys. really interesting forum and some really smart and experienced people on board.
