| Message: | had to happen.... I become Amsoil dealer... had a LONG talk with the local recruiter. He conformed what I have read, that zinc and other wear resistors are eliminated in the new oils. Mobil 1 dropped some of their oils in spite of this. Amsoil had to eliminate them and mark if they have anything in the oil which will not be recommended for newer engines. Their 10W40 synthetic (they only make synthetic oil) oil is the only one with the SM ratings and the old style zinc wear protector additives. I was reading about this in a magazine but in that article the guy was worried that it might hurts the really old engines like up to 10's till 60's. But what about the 70's 80's and early 90's engines like out BMW's ? Are they affected at all ? Will it be oke to use the new oil ? DOT and EPA's take on this isn't really supportive. They stated that the wear is not significant enough that a savings in emission should be compromised for that. Well I could care less about my emission - I mean do care but not in spite of engine life - if my engine will expire at 100-150k miles. They - "the government smarties" said - most newer engine will last their projected 100-150k miles lifetime. After that they will become clunkers anyway... I do not want to dispose my BMW's for a new Prius so I can save 1000 usd a year on fuel cost and reduce my emission by 2 lbs of CO2 a year. I vote not to send any more space shuttle up to do perfume research and we can save all the E31's emission for the next 20 years. so whats your take on this. Should we start buying amsoil 10W40 and similar oils and use that to make sure the engines last longer or we have nothing to worry. I did not believe all what the guy was saying but since I read about it already it caught my eyes. Up until this point I was using the royal purple or mobil1 in my cars. an another thing I can sell the amsoil cheap, they have several warehouses throughout the us and they can drop ship anywhere for about 9-10usd per case. A case of 10w40 Zinc protector oil should run about 89usd/12 pcs = 7.41 each quart delivered. I bought a few cases of oils for a customer but I'm trying to sell other products as well, so if you need anything let me know I pass on my savings. 1997 BMW 840CiA 1990 BMW Z1 2002 Astro Van AWD 2003 Nissan 350Z Enthusiast Package 2007 Mazda CX9 AWD 1998 Yamaha Blaster+Breeze 1995 850CSI CD00177 (SOLD) | ||||
