| Message: | I've seen a number of posting on replacing rear shelf speakers since they were "Junk" or "Blown" and rattle with any amount of base. I had the same problem. Took the grills off and watched closely and found that there is a rubber ring around the perimiter of the woofer that seems to seperate from the frame. It vibrates and makes a terrible rattle type sound like it is blown. The speaker cone itself is in perfect shape. I took some black silicone adhesive (regular automotive/permatex stuff) and re-glued the speaker. Put the grill back on and PERFECT! They actually sound VERY GOOD for 1989 speakers! I'm pretty impressed. A free fix and very little effort. If you take it on, the biggest challenge is figuring out how to get the grill off without busting the tabs. The tabs are on the front (close to the back of the seat. If you pry from the back, they pop up and slide toward the rear of the car pretty easily. Give it a try! | ||||
