| Message: | Use the search with 'glove box or glovebox latch or door and stuck and you get a lot of answer like these: This happens frequently. You probably have a broken latch (small metal 'ear' breaks off) and will have to replace it. To get into the glovebox without breaking something else, use a dremel tool to cut off the ends of the handle so you can access the screws behing it. Removing the screws will disassemble the latch and allow you to open the box. You can get a new latch/handle at the dealer or used from a salvage yard. ------------ Re: jammed glove compartment (40 views) Message: Pushing Glove box up whilst pulling the handle should release the lock 88 750il In Australia --------------------- have a glove compartment that will not open; it always has in the past!! It was over filled and has a loose upper liner which falls down every once in awhile. It jammed after a good solid closing (not me!) and has not opened since. I am wondering whether there is a way of opening this without undoing the four or so small bolds on the lower back. I also hear that there are straps to contend with as well; I would rather not go there. I want to do this myself (mechanics cost prohibit professional help) so could use some advice... -------- detailed drwaing of the parts holding it are here http://bmwfans.info/ and PLEASE: whenever you have a question, please mention model, engine, built year and month and in some cases like yours it is even necessary to emntion the country version, because the E32 750 in non USA-spec also have a small glove box compartment on driver side, that is of course different from the one on pass side. If you do not know the month and yesr the car was produced, visit my website below, there is a VIN decoder. Shogun's E32 Tech Tips: http://tridem.han-solo.net/auto/erich/auto.htm | ||||
