| Message: | My car only had 40655 miles and went into TRANS PROG. There was not a mechanical issue. I looked at the speed sensor and the idle switch, both were good. Finally I sold the car for 500.00 because the wife said I couldn't spend any more money. I put the ol' girl on CraigsList. Got too many responses until I changed the ad to say The car is in limp home mode, if you don't know what that is please do not call to purchase. Well, that narrowed my responses quite a bit. I had 2 commits to purchase before I had 2 folks actually show up to look. Well, long story short. The guy who bouught it had had a 320i years prior and was in the small computer controller industry. He thought he might have a fix. He called last night to announce he simply pulled the trans computer and resoldered the suspect joints and wouldn't you know it the deal is fixed. The lesson here is ALWAYS SUSPECT THE SOLDER on our older cars. I lost a perfectly good daily driver for only 500.00 because I didn't follow that rule. If you are in TRANS PROG, pull the computer and resolder the joints. | ||||
