I remember Ekkehart Rackete saying once (91 views)
Message: That the EML will go into a protection like mode if the accellerator pots become defective. I tried searching for the archives, but his post is buried in the old archives.

The accellerator pot has a upcount and downcount variable resistor type arrangement IIRC. Both must be working at all times, and in case of failure it seems he also said that the engine rpm is limited to prevent the engine from runaway rpms.

Regarding my posts the other day about limited rpms from a transmission computer fault. An epiphany yesterday forced me to recall that a TRANS PROGRAM fault also appeared when the reverse lockout solenoid was disconnected or the battery voltage dropped too low during cranking. Sorry about that.
