Am I too tall for a 3 series?? (432 views) (1169 thread views)
Message: I just bought a 2001 325i, and am loving my first bimmer! My only beef is that I my driver's side seat (manual seat, not electric) does not go back as far as the passenger side seat. I asked my mechanic about it and he simply said, "yeah, that's as far as it goes." (I take my car to a dealership that only sells BMW's, but it is an INDEPENDENT dealer.)

I'm not really satisfied with this response. I am tall, but not exceedingly tall (6 feet), and I would like to sit just a tiny bit further away. If I extend my arms while sitting in the seat, the wheel hits my arms just above my wrists. If the airbag were to deploy, it could be bad news, correct? If a taller friend were to sit at the wheel, he or she would definitely be uncomfortable.

Does anyone know if the drivers side seat was designed to not go as far back as the passenger seat? Was my mechanic feeding me a line or am I just too tall for a 3 series?
