My 2001 325xiT was a victim of the aux fan issue and overheated. It regularly consumes 1 quart every 2-3K miles. When I asked the BMW service guys about it, they said that it was perfectly normal for an AWD car to consume that amount of oil and that it had nothing to do with the overheating. Now I wonder... it has been maintained meticulously and my driving habits are not any crazier than the average BMW driver.
