I did not have the tool when I did my struts, but I did have a vice to hold the strut tube in place and a large (very large) pipe wrench to get the nut off and new one on.
Make sure you don't clamp down on the actual strut tube as it is not strong. Clamp down on the area down around the hub since it is reinforced.
