Thanks Chris it worked-need more advice (46 views) 
Message: that totally did the trick now I need advice on how to remove the collar nut on that holds the strut in place once the front spring is off. Its round so I can't get any torque on it. Once I get that off I'll be golden

btw the strut catridges were so blown that as soon as the spring was removed the shaft just went down-no rebound at all in fact just sank in by gravity....
