| Message: | Although the question that started this string didn't refer to it directly or in detail, the problem that the string addressed (and eventually solved) involved difficulty in getting an '88 325ic started in cold weather. The bad guy turned out to be a faulty Air Flow Sensor, which was sending inaccurate signals to the Engine Control Unit, which in turn was providing an over-rich mixture to the cylinders under cold-start conditions. (Testing procedures for the AFS are detailed in the Bentley service manual in the Fuel System section.) There were a whole batch of guys who put a lot of time and energy into diagnosing and correcting this problem (Geez Tech's contributions were outstanding!): Thanks to all. Come, King - this case is closed! Neil | ||||
