| Message: | It seems that even the more ignorant were finally schooled by some of the more helpful members of this forum. It is truly incredible that the benefits of a high-performance intake on an E30 even had to be argued. Truly remarkable. However, I thought I'd be so kind as to throw in a bona-fide encyclopedia entry. See link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_filter Under "Automotive air filters", the entry reads: "Most modern, fuel-injected vehicles use a flat panel filter. This filter is usually placed inside a plastic box connected to the throttle body with a large hose. Occasionally these are replaced with a conical filter and cold air intake which, in most cases, includes a heat shield to protect the intake air from underhood temperatures, along with tubing to improve airflow into the throttle body. In many cases an improved air-intake system can produce an increase in power and efficiency." Let your E30 breathe! The power increase is noticeable in all driving conditions. This is especially true if you have other engine performance enhancements. What should we hash out next, that wider tires will give you more or less traction? | ||||
